Daytona Beach, Fla. (June 30, 2006) Mike Wallace started Friday out with a great day of qualifying.  He qualified 13th for the Winn-Dixie 250 NASCAR Bush Series Race and came back later in the afternoon to qualify 18th for the Pepsi 400 Nextel Cup race.  Wallace ended the day with a great run in the NASCAR Busch Series' Winn Dixie 250, which included several cautions and a red flag.

Wallace and the #1 Miccosukee Gaming Dodge narrowly escaped several accidents that occurred right in front of him.  Those near misses, however, caused him to have to go from the back to the front on several occasions throughout the night.  When the caution flag flew with 20 laps to go, Mike had driven his way to the 8th position.

The green flag dropped with 17 laps to go and, in typical Daytona fashion, the final laps resembled a traffic jam.  With 3 laps to go, the #5 car got into the #38 car and sent it spinning through the infield, bringing out the caution flag for a 5th time.  This sent the race into 'overtime', resulting in a Green, White, Checkered finish. When the green flag waived, Mike was in the 5th position, but took the checkered flag in the 7th position after two cars drafted by him on the final lap.

Daytona gave Wallace his third Top 10 in as many weeks, currently making him the hottest driver in the NASCAR Busch Series.  In the two previous weeks, Wallace scored a 4th place finish in Kentucky and a 5th place finish in Milwaukee.
