Allmendinger and Tracy to Start 2nd and 4th in Denver

Denver, Colorado—Saturday, August 12, 2006—The Forsythe Championship Racing duo of A.J. Allmendinger and Paul Tracy had another strong qualifying effort today for the Grand Prix of Denver Sponsored by Bridgestone and will line up second and fourth on Sunday’s grid.  Both drivers set their fast laps during their first stint in qualifying. For their second stint they switched to the softer alternate Bridgestone “Red” tires but struggled with balance and did not improve.  During Sunday’s race Allmendinger will be looking to close the 45 point gap to Championship leader Sebastien Bourdais while Tracy will try to capture his first win of the season.

“Well it’s a disappointing result for us because we were so quick this morning.  I went out on the Bridgestone Reds for my second stint but I just couldn’t go any faster. I backed off for my last lap because I knew I wasn’t going to improve anymore.  There are some good passing zones at this track and we know we have a good car on the black tires so we should be in pretty good shape for the race tomorrow.”

Sunday’s race will be televised live by SPEED at 3:30pm Eastern Time.  You can also tune in to Race Director, available through the Champ Car website, for live coverage of the race and many practice and qualifying sessions with multiple channels of live video, audio, timing, telemetry and commentary.  Visit http://www.champcar.ws for more information.
