Max Papis Starts Homestead Race From the Second Row

Miami, FL, (March 23, 2007) - Qualifying for the Linder Industrial Komatsu Grand Prix of Miami race took place today at the 2.3-mile, 11-turn Homestead-Miami Speedway. The No. 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley of qualifying driver Colin Braun and teammate, local Miami resident “Mad” Max Papis, will start from the second row, the fourth position. Krohn team owner/driver Tracy Krohn qualified the No. 76 entry in the 17th position.

Eighteen-year-old Braun’s time was 1:14.698 at 110.846 mph. Houston, Texas resident Tracy Krohn qualified with a time of 1:16.722 at 107.922 mph.

Braun and Papis currently sit third in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car series Daytona Prototype class following their second place finish at round two in Mexico City earlier this month. Braun also collected the pole there. Krohn and Jönsson are tenth in the championship points chase following their eighth-place finish at Mexico City.

Max Papis, driver, No. 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley:

“I think we did a pretty good job with qualifying. Starting in the top two rows is a great achievement. We have a little bit of work to do on the car but I think the starting point is excellent. We just need to keep working on it from there.  It’s going to be a very tactical race. Everyone is going to be sliding around a lot and it’s going to be a matter of sliding a little less than everybody else.”

The Linder Industrial Komatsu Grand Prix of Miami race will be televised live on SPEED TV at 2:00 p.m. ET. For more information, please see www.grand-am.com and www.krohnracing.net.
