Mike Wallace and the Gecko Looking Forward to Memphis

Player Management International Media Release

Memphis, TN (October 26, 2007) – When Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet roll into Memphis Motorsports Park this weekend, they will be battling to return to the Top 10 in the point standings.  Sitting just 22 points removed, they currently have GEICO in position to experience their best season in their seven years of involvement in NASCAR.

If there were a sentimental favorite when the NASCAR Busch Series returns to the Mid-South, it would have to be Mike Wallace.  He has continued to battle and keep himself lingering around the Top 10 in the point standings in a series that is almost dominated by NEXTEL Cup drivers.

Traditionally referred to as a restrictor-plate specialist, Mike Wallace has a special place in his heart for short tracks.  Wallace is the middle brother in the Wallace racing family that includes older brother, Rusty, and younger brother, Kenny.  The Wallace family cut their teeth on short tracks in the Midwest and they have obviously parlayed their experiences into successful NASCAR careers.

Wallace enjoys racing in Memphis and always looks forward to returning to the historic .75-mile track.

“Memphis is a fun race for us to go to because I’ve always enjoyed running on short tracks,” Wallace said.  “We only have a few races left in the season, so we’re working hard to wrap up the season on a strong, positive note.”  He continued, “We’re also looking forward to visiting Beale Street and eating good barbecue and listening to some good Blue’s music and enjoying the Memphis atmosphere.”

Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the .75-mile oval at Memphis Motorsports Park for their first practice session on Friday, October 26th, at 3:00 PM (ET), with final practice at 5:00 PM (ET).  Qualifying is set for Saturday morning at 10:35 AM (ET).

On Saturday, October 27th, the Sam’s Town 250 NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 3:00 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 3:30 PM (ET).  Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.
