Actor Jason Priestley, whose professional driving career effectively ended with a crash in the Indy Pro Series at Kentucky Speedway in 2002, will be the co-owner of a new Indy-car team that will compete in this year's Indianapolis 500.

Priestley is partnering with former racing executive Jim Freudenberg, who was best known for his role with the IRL's Kelley Racing, in the Rubicon Race Team. A driver has not been confirmed, although Max Papis is considered the likely candidate.

The team will be operated by Sam Schmidt Motorsports and has an advisory board that includes Tom Kelley, Colts tight end Dallas Clark, Carolina Panthers punter Jason Baker (a Fort Wayne native) and Ian Ziering, who starred with Priestley on the television show "Beverly Hills 90210."
