Wallace Family Going for the Triple in Talladega

Player Management International Media Release

Concord, NC (September 16, 2008) – Most people would enjoy a weekend off, but not Mike Wallace.  Sitting 8th in the point standings in NASCAR’s #2 series, he will run the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race in Talladega on October 4th, driving a Toyota Tundra for Germain Racing with sponsorship from GEICO.

Wallace has experienced considerable success over the years at the 2.66-mile high-banked superspeedway, nearly reaching Victory Lane the last two years in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races.  Long time sponsor GEICO will be along for the ride again this year and Wallace hopes to put the Gecko in Victory Lane.

One of the sports top restrictor-plate racers, Wallace has also been tabbed to pilot a fourth car for Richard Childress Racing in the Amp Energy 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, October 5th.

“It’s going to be a very exciting weekend for both Chrissy and I,” Wallace said.  “I have enjoyed running the restrictor-plate races and it will be nice to be in a competitive truck and car and have a chance to win two races that weekend.  It is especially flattering to be asked to drive for Richard Childress in the Cup race on Sunday.”

Chrissy Wallace will enjoy a weekend with dad, as she will be behind the wheel of Germain Racing’s ARCA RE/MAX car on Friday, October 3rd.  This will be yet another step in her development program and it will allow the younger Wallace to log laps on a superspeedway.  Most recently, Chrissy Wallace recorded a Top 20 finish in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race on September 6th in front of a hometown crowd at Gateway International Raceway.

“Talladega is a great opportunity for me to gain additional experience on the superspeedways,” Chrissy said.  “I’ll be in a competitive car that will allow me to run up front and have a chance to win the race.  I feel like each time I have gotten on the track I have been able to learn a little more and get a little better as a race car driver. I appreciate Germain Racing giving me this opportunity and I’ll do the best I can to get to Victory Lane.”
