Max Papis Adds Another Championship to his Resume

Player Management International Media Release

Mooresville, NC (March 19, 2009) – What does a racecar driver do when he has a couple of weeks to ‘relax’ before his next race?  While most guys would hit the lake and work on their suntan, Max Papis, the 2004 Grand-Am Series champion, went out and won another championship.

Not a guy to sit still, ‘Mad’ Max headed to Ocala, Florida, where he hopped behind the wheel of a go-kart and helped his team notch their first major championship, as they recorded the Rotax Senior Class Championship last weekend.  His team, Max Papis Racing with Fittipaldi, is a partnership with his father-in-law, Emerson Fittipaldi.

Today, rather than relaxing at home, GEICO’s guy is spending the day at Rockingham Speedway testing the #9 GEICO Toyota Tundra in preparation for his next scheduled NASCAR race at Martinsville Speedway.  March 28th will be Papis’s third start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Papis will then take a trip to Texas Motor Speedway to attempt to place the #13 GEICO Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series field for the race on April 5th.  The Lone Star state will mark his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the 2009 season.

Papis is scheduled to participate in 27 NASCAR races in 2009 and he is committed to doing all he can to ensure his success.

“I’ve never been a guy to sit still because I love to race and I love to be around the sport,” Papis said.  “I’ll race go-karts, cars, trucks, it doesn’t matter.  It keeps my skills sharp and it allows me to have some fun and bring additional exposure to GEICO.  This year has been very exciting and I look forward to getting to Martinsville for the Truck Series race and then to Texas for our second Cup race.”
